Morning Coffee Physics is a blog about physics.

…what makes this one different, you ask?

Well, I’m very eager to spread awareness of physics and science throughout the general public. There are a lot of amazing facts about the world (universe) that I have learned throughout my studies in physics. Most of these facts are, frankly, just too freeking cool to keep to myself! I also think that scientific literacy (and the means to improve it), is (are) sorely lacking in the world and I’m hoping to be able to explain some topics and ideas in a way that is easily accessible to all those who are eager to learn. So, there you have it. This blog is my attempt to do all of these things in, what I hope will be, a fun way for all of my readers.

…who am I?

With enough sleuthing anyone could track down my name, so I might as well tell you. My name is Jasper Palfree. I’m just your average grad student. I’m currently attending the University of Toronto and I hope to specialize in Cosmology. I also like coffee.

Scarlet Letter of Atheismlthough I may be an atheist (and have now chosen to “out” myself as such with the big “A”), for now I am choosing not to make that a prominent issue on this blog. My reason for this is that I want to try to make the scientific tidbits on Morning Coffee Physics as inviting as possible to readers regardless of their religion. My love for science and physics is not motivated by a distaste for religion, but rather a love for the world around me. This drives me to think critically and sceptically with an open mind about ideas and “truths”. So, if you happen to be religious, I challenge you to test your faith and be curious about science (that is, curious about the world) and learn about it. Hopefully Morning Coffee Physics can help you out in that respect.
